BIM 4 Green

Through its technicians and network of partners GBF offers a comprehensive service package for the implementation, management and training of the BIM system within different environments. Each product hereby described can be adjusted to the different work environments ranging between the personal use, company operation and design firm. The goal of GBF is to offer a system and a methodology to progressively approach the Building Information Modeling until the Client becomes totally self-sufficient for its technical development and management.

BIM MODELING.

A package of services designed to generate the model of your project through the main BIM software. The BIM-modeling service provides an information-transfer process from the standard documentation formats to a model which includes all such information within a BIM database system. The final model is arranged under a specific protocol based on the requirements of each project-phase, such as, analysis, design, construction and maintenance.

The final result is a BIM model completely accessible and editable with a consequent process optimization in terms of costs and management for the Client and its partners. The whole process is developed through 3 main phases, each of them controlled by a Client’s representative, and it can be carried out through a linear or parallel progression.

Phase 1: documentation delivery process. The GBF team defines, along with the Client, the formats and methods under which the project-related documentation and information has to be delivered in order to develop the final BIM model.

Phase 2: information-flow design. The Client, supported by the GBF team, provides a univocal description the information to be included in the final BIM model and the outputs that such model will have to provide once completed along with the communication procedure to be followed to extract them.

Phase 3: model-delivery process. The GBF team delivers the BIM model along with a specific coaching session about how to operate and manage its features and a first Clash-Detection demonstration. This last phase constitutes a practical exercise of “technology-handover” toward the Client who finally becomes more and more independent in creating and managing BIM models.

BIM IMPLEMENTATION.

The term “BIM Implementation” defines a package of services designed to obtain a corporate-level system that could offer not only a software-based BIM model but also a completely standardized methodology for the implementation of BIM throughout different departments and/or services. Whereas the “BIM modeling” service focuses on transferring information from the traditional formats to a BIM model the goal of the “BIM implementation” package is to create a whole BIM system at corporate level and not in terms of singular project. In technical terms, this implies the implementation of database, protocols, manuals and templates in order to define the flow, features and interoperability of all information to be handled within and throughout the system.

The “BIM Implementation” service can be applied following two different methods:

Standard Implementation.

Allows the Client to implement the BIM at corporate level from the operative perspective in a short period of time. GBF offers a specific package of products through which the Client could rapidly have a standard BIM system up-and-running within its corporative environment. Such products can be classified as follow:

  • Protocols: technical specs related to the general arrangements and operability conditions of the model complying with the ISO 19650;
  • Manuals: technical manuals relates to specific operations to standardize the activities of the different subjects involved;
  • Templates: pre-structured forms to standardize and arrange the flows of information.
  • BIM Execution Plan (BEP): technical specs related to the specific arrangements and operability conditions of the model.

Each product is developed through common modeling features and represents an option for the Client to start working within the BIM environment through a standard approach.

Custom Implementation.

A service package focused on the BIM implementation process described above but through custom products fully designed and developed on the basis on the Client’s needs. Like the operative implementation process, the final result allows the Client to implement a BIM system at corporate level but in this case all service-implementation procedures are preceded by a comprehensive information-collection process. Such information could be related, but not limited to, Client’s operations, internal management system, corporate information flows and create the basis upon which all BIM-related custom products, such as database, protocols, manuals and templates are then developed.

Like the standard implementation this custom-service package is integrated by multiple training sessions for the Client concerning the BIM system and its related products. This process ends with the education of a team of experts on the Client’s side led by a “BIM manager” which will be in charge of managing the BIM system and its evolution.

BIM EDUCATION AND TRAINING.

The training and education programs offered under this service is referred to different BIM tools, is developed through several online and asynchronous sessions and are all certified by Autodesk®.

Such sessions and courses are characterized by the following numbers:

  • 120 hours of online and asynchronous classes;
  • 8 months of post-course technical support for the practical implementation of the BIM tools;
  • Implementation of a standard training protocol in order to equalize the education of all subjects involved;
  • Provision of standard templates for the BIM practical implementation.

All training sessions could be divided in three categories:

  • REVIT – Arquitecture and Structures
  • REVIT – MEP
  • Advanced CAD + CAD Manager
